Mandalore is the title used by the supreme leader of the Mandalorian people. The word means “sole ruler” in the Mandalorian language of Mando’a. The title began with Mandalore the First, the mythic leader of the Taung warriors who went on to become the first Mandalorians. Throughout the galactic history, at least twenty-one Mandalorians have declared themselves Mandalore.
The lineage of the Mandalore becomes uncertain beginning with Jaster Mereel. Both Jango and Boba Fett’s tie to the Mandalorian tradition has been called into question by the likes of Prime Minister Almec whose reputation as a reliable source can also be questioned. How Bo-Katan Kryze’s time leading the Mandalorians and the loss of the Darksaber fits into the timeline still remains to be seen.
